Swaziland is an excellent country for bird watching, with almost 500 species being found within the country. (See Swaziland's Birds - includes information on threatened species, an annotated checklist arranged by family, and distribution maps for each species from the Swaziland Bird Atlas.)

Malolotja Nature Reserve offers a diverse range of highveld and middleveld species, including birds such as the blue swallow, bald ibis, striped flufftail, black rumped buttonquail and many other interesting species. (See Malolotja Birds.)

Hawane Nature Reserve, which includes Hawane vlei and Hawane Dam offers an opportunity to view some of the waterbirds found in the country.

Mantenga Nature Reserve is home to a variety of predominantly middleveld species. (See Mantenga Birds.)

Mlawula Nature Reserve is noteworthy for its high diversity of birdlife, including a number of species not found in the higher parts of the country. (See Mlawula Birds.)
