The Holtmans and Bothmas at
Namahasha. This is Holtman's house, he tried growing coffee at Namahasha before
the Boer War in partnership with David Forbes and Allister Miller. Despite him
being a trained horticulturalist, the crop failed. His experiments with wattle
and gum were more successful. From left: Louise and Abraham Karel Bothma,
unkown man with armband, unknown woman, Jan Bothma seated, Isabella Bothma

claimed to having been a major in the British Army. He had a concession to
grow, dry, cure, sell and export tobacco. He also had a concession to 65 992
hectares of bushveldt land.
