Description:

Key Features: a hinging hind part of the carapace and upper jaw with a single beak

Comments: Occurs in the middleveld, lowveld and Lubombo regions, absent from the highveld. Previously three localities listed (Broadley, 1981b), currently five localities recorded. Also a few sight records. The taxonomic status of this form is being reviewed (D. Broadley pers. comm.).
