Crotaphopeltis hotamboeia    (Herald or Red-lipped Snake) Description: Key Features: black colour to the back and sides of the head, pale upper lip area and uniform olive green or grey body Comments: Occurs throughout the country in the highveld, middleveld, lowveld and Lubombo regions. Previously five localities listed (Broadley 1983), currently seven localities recorded. Habitats:   Open grassland Rocky ridges and slopes Valley bushveld
