Status: Least Concern
   Southern African Red Data Status: Vulnerable
   International Red Data Status: Vulnerable
Recorded by Clay (1976) from the Usutu system where it is still found, although definitely now absent from the Matsapha region probably due to pollution/erosion effects. Very abundant in certain locations. Not found in the highveld but also captured in the Mbuluzi and Lomati rivers.
