Anguilla mossambica Peters, 1852
Anguillidae (Freshwater eels)
(African longfin eel)
Status: Uncommon
Largely restricted to Komati system but also found in the rivers of the Mlawula Nature Reserve, and the Ngwavuma. Migratory therefore inhibited by dams weirs etc. but not restricted. No evidence of a contraction of range c.f Clay (1976).
